General information
Bulgaria is a small country, located in south east Europe. The total population is 7.1 million people with total area of 110 993 sq.km. Even though the standard of living is lower compared to some other European countries, Bulgaria is very attractive to foreign people, because of the amazing nature, rich history and the Bulgarian way of life. Besides this, the cost of living is really low, compared to many European countries which is one of the reasons why the country is so popular as a tourist destination.
If you decide to move to live in Bulgaria you must be aware of the procedures and documents you need. For EU citizens it’s very easy – you don’t need a visa to live here. Still, you can check if your country is listed in below. If yes – that means you don’t need a visa to enter Bulgaria, if not – then you might need one:

It is good to know that all types of visas are issued in the Bulgarian embassies and consulates abroad. You should check the visa application requirements that you might need:
• Valid passport;
• Application form;
• One passport-size photo;
• Return ticket or documentation for next destination;
• Fee, payable in cash or by postal order only;
• Proof of sufficient funds (at least 50 USD a day);
• Proof of paid fare for onward destination;
• For motor vehicle transit, proof of an extra 200 USD for each entry;
• Proof of a secured return trip;
• For business visits: Letters from the applicant's company and from the Bulgarian business partner, endorsed by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce;
• For private visits: A letter of invitation by a Bulgarian citizen endorsed by the local authorities

The types of visas are:
• Visa A - for airport transit
• Visa C – for a short stay for the purpose of transit or a planned stay
• Visa D – for a long stay
